The Advanced CBT Course is a practical, hands-on program designed to provide in-depth skills training in CBT. Teaching methods include lecturettes, skills modeling, and role-playing practice. The class reviews DVDs of expert therapists in action, and critiques those approaches in group discussions. Expert DVDs reviewed include Judy Beck, PhD (depression), Michelle Craske, PhD (generalized anxiety disorder), David Clarke, PhD (panic disorder), and Marsha Linehan, PhD (suicidality). Lecturette topics include dysfunctional reactions to patients, subtleties of the therapeutic alliance, overcoming challenges in setting goals, conceptualizing difficult patients, challenges in identifying and modifying cognitions, and challenges in homework compliance. Participants are also encouraged to audiotape their patient sessions and use these tapes for supervision (guidelines and consent forms are emailed upon registration).
NOTE: Enrolment is strictly limited to 16 participants.
